William H. Jordan
"The moment my legs began to move, my thoughts began to flow."
- Henry David Thoreau
For Will Jordan, there's more to running than the workout. “It's also a great way to clear your head,” he says.
Though Jordan's always been athletic, playing numerous sports in high school, he didn't take up distance running until he started looking for a way to relieve stress when he was studying at the University of South Carolina School of Law. “It's also probably the least expensive way to exercise.”
The habit has remained with him since, and he's competed in three half marathons since graduating. That's 13.1 grueling miles from start to finish. “It's both exhausting and exhilarating,” he explains. “You're worn out, but there's a definite sense of accomplishment.”
